Any pointers would be warmly welcomed Pleased you've found it. I'm away from home so didn't get online last night, sorry not to have helped. All done now, I used the grommet just behind the exhaust output.
I cut the metal heat shield a slight amount and bent it down to protect the 16A plug I fitted. I then passed the cable up through the pillar, bit fiddly but eventually managed it and in the van the cable pops out right above the professionally made units totally hidden.
The cable then drops down in the rear cupboard to the consumer unit jobs a good 'n.
Thanks for your help Paul Edited by happyhooker - 07 Jun 12 at I went for tucked up behind the rear bumper - nice and discreet: Be careful that you don't catch the plug and damage it on the ground when going through deeper ditches etc, that setup looks a bit vulnerable to me when I had a 4WD I used to scrape that part of the body quite frequently, so anything placed there wouldn't last at all. Of course if you never drive on stuff like that it will be perfectly fine for you. No worries, it's been there for nearly three years without mishap Having said that, I'll probably smash it off within a week now!
If you do, please accept my apologies in advance.
Mine runs back to the lower part of the cupboards, just above the rear wheel arch. I just drilled a hole in the side of the van, I looked at the options of hiding the hook up.. But in all honesty I don't want wet knees at a campsite.. So I thought it's a camper van and it looks like a camper van. I see you lost your bumper reflectors too The Brick Yard "swear filter" is more than a tad idiosyncratic try typing in Tee two point five using numbers instead of words, and it converts various french marques to "French Filth" too.
I'm at the head 'scratching point of where is best for this on my t5. I thought I was happy to fix it under the bonnet out the way of getting water. Hi, where have you guys put your v mains input plug on your T5s.I dont want to go through the side.

Mines under the bonnet. Still room for it to comfortably close with the cable in. No need to cut any exterior holes then.
T5ster, I think thats the approach I want to go for It's quite easy really. There is also an existing grommet you can run the cable through which comes up inside, near the rear lights.
This shows you how to remove the bumper http: Last edited by T5ster; at This is where I put mine. My consumer unit is behind the driver's seat and the armoured cable runs underneath protected by the under trays. Hi I always 5th van put under rear bumper and drill no holes. Best way is back right side of bumper between rear corner and wheel.
You do not need to remove bumper to do. Behind side part of bumper there is a vent hole into lower rear quarter panel you can feed cable into from underneath and get inside by removing back right side trim panel. From there I mount the socket next to the bolts that hold the spare wheel in are.
You will find a plastic trim from the rear underbelly that hold to socket in place. Works very well, is hidden when not in use and no drill holes to pride and joy.
