At first it involved taking messages, then she was asked to help cut up the drugs. She knew things had changed.
Soon Lisa was carrying drugs and weapons. If I got caught [with the gun] I would have said no comment and took the bird with me. The relationship with Jerome continued as she was drawn deeper into gang life. You don't love him but you're made to believe you do. It's all very fiction, but it's not real love … you don't realise how deep you're in until it's too late. As she got to know more people in the gang she realised everyone — boys and girls — had a different role.
As Lisa became more embroiled with the gang her life became more dangerous. I couldn't go to my mum's house and when I did see her she had to meet me somewhere. If I was seen by myself something would have happened to me. When Lisa turned 17 her endless nights spent in the "traphouse" began to take their toll. I didn't want to do it towards the end. But I was more scared because that's when people turn against you.
You know everything in the area. Who's selling drugs, who's got firearms. Lisa began to realise the extent of the violence and criminality she had witnessed over two years. Boys would get a pitbull and train it to bite, they'd batter people, rob them for their watches. Instead she tried to slowly extricate herself from the gang. He'd tell me I wasn't being a good girlfriend. Some people have a breaking point, others don't. Then she became pregnant.
When Lisa went for her abortion two weeks later she had already miscarried. I was with him for another three months and he kept hitting me and throwing stuff at me. Lisa was certain she was not about to make the same mistake as her mum, who had put up with domestic violence for 10 years. By now Jerome had moved away London after getting shot. She moved into his new house but realised she had reached her breaking point. She left clothes and other belongings there to avoid suspicion and walked away, changing her mobile number and deleting her Facebook account.
The pair have not met for two years but Lisa says that her old life still catches up with her. I had his friends coming up to me saying if I opened my mouth I knew the deal.
People telling me where my mum lives. Two years later it's still there. Or else you'd be "gang banged" in! Whatever makes you happy girl. Sweetie you need to run the other way. Very few gang members make it out unscathed. I do find it strange that your dude waited until he went to college to actually 'join the gang'.
Most gangsters join at a very young age - when they're most impressionable and vulnerable. I personally know 3 women who ended up dead by being involved in that gang lifestyle - either by affiliation or actual involvement. It's a lose-lose situation. They only date six figure ninjas with degrees, CEO of three different companies, and drive Ranger Rovers and Benz's at the same damn time. Dudes joining gangs in is still whats hot in the streets?
I mean I "dated" this guy in the 3rd grade and he was part of a gang. He had one regular eye and another one that was always open and popping out of his skull. This one day after school he followed me to the daycare across the street and into the bathroom, jacked me up and asked me if I lived in a rival neighborhood. I was like ummm no and then after that we started dating. That guy was a terror at 8 years old I wonder how he's doing now. Low self esteem is real. I think you're trolling but I'll answer I never dated a gang member but I knew a few and by your post I think you really have no idea what your in for if you plan to go the ride or die route You say its cool if he doesn't get into trouble Do you know what the duties of a gang member are?
First they have to "put in work" You really need to step away from him right now because this is a dead end I'm not involved with gangs but i do know people who are through a school program.
Those mofo know everyone and their momma names, if they see u, they will know who u are in a heartbeat. Remember most of these kids came from nothing.
Their expect to die young and don't mind talking you with them. You should value your own life more. I used to live in the murder capital of the Nation, if they can't get him they will get you. You are guilty by association. Do not play with fire. Your boy sounds like a lame if he joined as an older cat. He sounds like a wannabe. I know people who were born into two or three generations of gangmembers in the family.
They would test your boy and you may be a victim of their conniving ways. This thread is dumb. When thug love goes wrong.
Dont waste your years with a guy who just decided to join a gang. If he waited this long he must be really weak. There are many dudes who are affiliated but dont bang.
WTH he should of been trying to join something positive to distance himself from the gang life. Next thing he will be leaving college to chase the fast life. Its, who n da hell wanna join a gang. He needs some real guidance. And u need not standby the foolishness. The first and only gangbanger I dated was shot and killed right in front of me.
Girl you better not play wih your life or future. Many women I know who got caught up are doing mandatory minimums for holding they man down. If you wanna be a down ass chick. Help your dude start a business, learn a new tradeor a something. Real women would never get involved with this life.
